CAP SUR SIENNE (SIENA) : Tourist route (80 Km)
Morning: Collect your BMW rental bike if appropriate, head for the first roads of the trip in the direction of Chianti!
Lunch: With fantastic Paola in the fortified village of Volpaia, it’s fit for a postcard!
Afternoon: Leave for Siena, via Radda in Chianti and Castella in Chianti.
Optional detour via Illaria with an official guide who will tell you about the history of the steep lanes where the bi-annual Palio horse race is held, each racer represents one of the village quarters and wears the colours and armour of that quarter!
Return to the hotel.
AT THE HEART OF CHIANTI: tourist circuit (140 Km)
Morning: The castle roads are waiting for us, discover the vineyards of Chianti and the villages perched on the hill tops overlooking the surrounding vineyards.
Lunch: We suggest you stop for lunch at Sira and Remino in the medieval village of San Gusmè or at the Osteria des Castello in the castle of Starda.
Afternoon: (Optional) We can arrange private visits of the wine cellars of Castagnoli castle and, if you have the time, Capannelle. These two wine cellars produce some of the best wine in Chianti.
Return to the castle or guesthouse.
THE RIDGE ROAD: Touristic route (200Km)
Morning: Take your bike towards the lunar landscape of the Siena ridges, on the old Erocia racetrack dedicated to vintage bikes. A track that twists and turns on roads and reinforced slopes.
Lunch: in Lucignano d’Asso in an old grocery store, incomparable!
Afternoon: We suggest that you relax this afternoon in the thermal springs of Rapolano (tickets can be bought upon arrival at the springs).
The thermal springs are another of the attractions of Tuscany: wallow in the pools and admire the stunning views of the hills.
Enjoy the warm mineral rich water that comes from the underground spring, it’s especially rich in sulphur.
Head back to the hotel for dinner.
RIDGE OF SAN GIMIGNANO: Touristic route (195 Km)
Morning: Enjoy probably the prettiest road in Chianti which runs from Gaiole to Poggibonsi. It’s right in the middle of the hills and olive groves: 40Km of curvy bends in this beautiful Tuscan landscape.
You’re heading in the direction of San Gimignano, a fortified town beautifully conserved which is famous for its many towers.
Lunch: For lunch you’ll head to Volterra, the rival town of San Gimignano, where a shaded terrace and your lunch awaits.
Afternoon: Return via Monterrigioni, a fortified town totally surrounded by ramparts a few kilometres from Siena.
FROM ONE TURN TO ANOTHER, THE THERMAL SPRING ROAD: Touristic route (335 Km)
Morning: The so-called thermal spring road takes you from Val d’Orcia towards the South, in the direction of Maremme. You simply must stop at Montepulciano, the city of red wine, and Pienza for these are two magnificent villages.
You’ll arrive in Saturnia where there’s a waterfall of thermal springs! Take the chance to plunge into the water which comes out of the ground at a staggering 40°C!
Lunch: A lovely plate of pasta in the square of Saturnia.
Afternoon: The road heads back up to Siena and a string of endless bends takes you through this immense countryside which rolls as far as the eye can see, a real delight!
