DAY 1
Arrive in the morning at the airport or ferry port
OLBIA/ CASTELLSARDO (220 Km)
Morning: Leave for the coast, tour along the beautiful Capo Testa peninsula, next to Santa Teresa di Gallura. This route is full of beaches and creeks so feel free to take your first dip in the Sardinian sea! Continue to Tempio Pausania and its granite palaces, the architecture here is influenced by the buildings in nearby Corsica.
Lunch: On a terrace in Tempio Pausania.
Afternoon: A foray inland will lead you to the banks of Lake Coghinas… then it’s time to return to Castelsardo surrounded by the sea.
A hotel nestled into the headland will welcome you for the night and dinner.
-
DAY 2
CASTELSARDO/ ALGHERO (120 Km)
Morning: Wander around the lanes of Castelsardo and climb up the castle ramparts then have a coffee before we head off for Stintino and its’ white sandy beaches and remarkable crystal waters. It’s of the most beautiful places in Sardinia.
Lunch: Visit the impressive wine-producing region of Sella and Mosca (Località I Piani), it’s huge and lush and produces great wines.
Your guest-house is also in this beautiful region, just north of Alghero.
Dinner: Sardinian specialities and local wine in the Cannonau.
-
DAY 3
FREE DAY AROUND ALGHERO.
Here is our advice:
You simply have to visit Alghero, it’s an ancient port city and its charms are incomparable. It used to be Catalonian so you can see the influence of Spanish architecture and even language in the dialect spoken locally.
The seafood specialities in the old port of Alghero cannot be beaten.
For the afternoon take a trip to the underwater caves of Neptune (Grotta di Nettuno) just north of Alghero. A maze of steps leads down the cliffs towards the spectacular mineral columns and a salty under-ground lake!
Dinner.

DAY 4
ALGHERO/ ORRISTANO (115 Km)
Morning: The so called gherkin road is enchanting, made up of bends overhanging the sea… a real treat on a bike! Not a house in sight, wild for kilometres, a real good motorbike road along the Mediterranean. You’ll arrive in Bosa, a pretty port overshadowed by a fortified castle and a muddle of lanes and stairs.
Lunch: In the old centre of Bosa.
Afternoon: Continue on our way towards Oristano and visit the old town, renowned for its Sartiglia and roads full of elegant horse parades during carnival, serious stuff!
You’ll stay in a hotel in the historic centre.
Dinner.

DAY 5
ORISTANO/ OLBIA (170 Km)
Morning: We advise that you take a quick detour to visit the ruins of the ancient Phoenician city of Tharros which is falling into the sea… next head inland on a maze of roads fit to make you dizzy!
Lunch: Taste the pork brochettes in a mountain inn!
Afternoon: we’ll keep on in the direction of Olbia, taking our time to visit its historic centre or for a last dip in the sea before take-off!
Home journey.
